Interview with Amirah Marina binti Mohamad Nor

This month we caught up with another of our alumni that are now working at KTJ. Amirah returned to KTJ in August as a House Co-ordinator.

1. Which year did you join KTJ, and when did you graduate from KTJ?

I joined in January 1993 - and graduated in March 1998.

2. Which house were you in?

When I stared I was in Naquiah House, which is now the Arts Centre, I then moved to Jawahir from 1994.

3. What do you remember most about KTJ?

The friendships I made and the teachers who shaped how I think and who I’ve become.

4. Can you tell us about your educational journey after KTJ?

I completed a medical foundation year at University Malaya and began a bachelor's degree but decided to pursue my studies in the UK. I sat for my A-levels in Oxford and went on to earn both my bachelor's and master’s degrees in Natural Sciences from the University of Edinburgh.

5. If you had to go back and redo your high school (KTJ) experience from scratch, what would you change and why?

Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

6. What do you do now (work)?

Everything has come full circle. I’m now the House Coordinator of Naquiah Boys House at KTJ. I believe the boarding experience is where true growth and lifelong relationships are formed.

7. What did you learn from KTJ that is most applicable to your current position?

How to spot when something’s up.

8. Who should we feature next in our KTJ Community?

Children of alumni and how the KTJ legacy is being passed down.
