Their story began a decade ago, in 2014, when they met as Form 4 students at KTJ. Although they didn’t share the same classes, their paths crossed in sixth form through their roles as school prefects and prom committee members (and Sabrina helping Ryan with his studies).
The wedding served as a reunion for the KTJ community, as Ryan and Sabrina’s KTJ friends reconnected with their former teachers. Among the teachers who joined the celebration were Mdm Yeoh, Miss Emma Davidson, and Mr and Mrs Ang, whose daughters - Wei Vei, Maisey, and June - were all in the same batch as Ryan and Sabrina. Wei Vei was one of Sabrina’s bridesmaids. Also present were teachers who played pivotal roles in their KTJ lives: Miss Rachel, the couple’s accounting teacher; Ms Angie; and Sabrina’s housemaster. She was Irinah’s deputy house captain, and Mr Suresh, whom Ryan reported to as social media club president and later head prefect.
Reflecting on their KTJ journey, Ryan shared a memorable anecdote in his speech: “KTJ organised a mandatory annual house singing competition, where 50 not-so-young boys were made to sing and dance together 2 weeks into college life. I can now fully appreciate the purpose of that - not for the harmony, we were barely off-tune at best, but the bonds formed, the friendships, and the brotherhood seem to be on track to last a lifetime.”
Ryan and Sabrina’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love story but a testament to the enduring relationships and community fostered at KTJ.
