Alumna Nia Katarina Abd Razak, shared an update via LinkedIn:
LONG OVERDUE:
For my freshman summer, I had an amazing opportunity to intern with the Fiscal Team in the Monetary Policy Department (JDM) at Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) alongside our Harvard pride and joy, Muhammad Hamdi and Jarell Cheong Tze Wen. I contributed to projects, including:
1. Tourism budget proposal suggestions for Malaysia's Ministry of Finance
2. Street Economists surveys with the Economics Department (JEK) around KL on retirement financial planning
3. Two research presentations: Malaysia's views on joining BRICS+ and Malaysia's Aging Population
I was privileged and (very much spoiled) to be able to stay in Lanai Kijang throughout my internship and even joined JDM's Team Building in Langkawi, and was there in time for the Durian feast to end my internship (thinking about it as I am writing this in Philly now).
All my thanks to everyone in the team and department for their never-ending mentorship and guidance. Dr. Hasni, DD Helmi Ramlee, Zaryff Razali, Farhan Yosman, Maryam, Chong Chin Keat, Sugus, Khalif, and Mutt. Jumpa lagi when I join the Bank after my graduation in 2027, InsyaAllah!
