Global Thinking in Action: KTJ Hosts Model United Nations Conference with Alumni Support

KTJ recently hosted its annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, a dynamic event that brought together students in a celebration of diplomacy, debate, and global citizenship

The conference served as a platform for students to step into the shoes of international delegates, explore pressing global issues, and develop critical skills in negotiation, public speaking, and collaborative problem-solving.

Throughout the event, students represented a wide range of countries, researching and defending their assigned nations' positions on challenges such as climate change, human rights, global health, and security. Working within specialised committees including the United Nations Security Council and the World Health Organization (WHO), delegates engaged in formal sessions where they delivered speeches, debated policies, built coalitions, and drafted resolutions addressing some of the world’s most urgent concerns.

The MUN experience is much more than a simulation — it nurtures leadership, teamwork, and empathy, and encourages students to think critically about the world around them. It also reflects KTJ’s commitment to nurturing globally-minded individuals prepared to engage meaningfully with real-world challenges.

Student and Staff Leadership at its Best

This year’s conference was made possible through the exceptional leadership of Mr Bechir, whose guidance helped shape a rigorous and engaging experience for all involved. A special thank-you also goes to Elizabeth Goh, a dedicated KTJ SixthForm student whose efforts in coordinating logistics, communicating with participants, and overseeing committee procedures played a vital role in the event’s success.

Behind the scenes, numerous KTJ staff and students also contributed to creating a seamless and enriching experience — from research and preparation to logistics and hospitality — all working together to bring the spirit of diplomacy to life on campus.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Alumni Sponsors

We are especially grateful to our KTJ alumni who generously sponsored and supported this year’s MUN Conference. Your contributions helped enhance the quality and reach of the event — from providing essential resources and materials to enabling students to experience a more professional and immersive MUN environment.

This act of giving back is a testament to the strength and generosity of the KTJ alumni network. By supporting events like MUN, you help empower the next generation of leaders, critical thinkers, and global citizens.

Looking Ahead

The success of this MUN Conference reflects the passion, talent, and collaboration that define the KTJ community. It is also a powerful example of what is possible when current students, staff, and alumni come together with a shared purpose.

Thank you to all who participated, supported, and contributed to making this event a memorable and meaningful experience.

If you’re a KTJ alum interested in supporting future events or mentoring students in global affairs, debate, or leadership, we would love to hear from you.
