It is with great sadness that we share the news of Paul McWilliams's passing, as conveyed by his parents, Clare and Victor McWilliams.
Paul McWilliams attended KTJ for Forms 4 and 5 from 1997, where he completed his O levels. He then returned to the UK for Sixth Form and later pursued a degree in IT at the University of Kent. There, he also completed a postgraduate course in Computer Graphic Imagery (CGI), a technology used extensively in film post-production.
Paul worked for several post-production companies, including Double Negative, which won an Oscar for the film Inception—an achievement that reflects Paul's talent and dedication.
However, Paul's love for sports and working with young people led him on a new path. He became involved in youth work, earned a teacher’s diploma for Primary Schools, and taught for a number of years. Paul was passionate about working with underprivileged children. He spent time in Delhi working with disadvantaged children living on the streets, and later moved to Bangladesh to support a charity there. During this time, Paul continued his CGI work to fund his efforts while also running sports activities for local children. He worked in a remote area of Bangladesh and ran sports activities with local children.
Paul was in the process of establishing his own charity, Sports for Joy, when he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. He passed away on the 4th of September, leaving his family and friends heartbroken.
